The week before

Lock the plan

  • Final team list per category, and the game schedule per court
  • Referees confirmed, with availability per time slot
  • Table officials confirmed per court
  • Referees have their games: by email or in their calendar
  • A plan for rain, a late team and a missing referee

The morning

Before the first game

  • Courts, clocks and scoresheets ready
  • Referee check-in, so you know who is actually there
  • One briefing for referees: courts, rotation, where to find the schedule
  • One person who owns the schedule for the day

During the games

Keep it moving

  • Watch which courts run late, and rebalance early
  • Swap in a referee as soon as someone drops out
  • Tell everyone when the schedule changes, in one place
  • Fill in the knockout games as soon as pools finish

Afterwards

Close the day

  • Referee evaluations while the games are fresh
  • Results and final rankings
  • Thank referees and volunteers
  • Keep the data for the next event

Where RefManager fits

The referee side of the day

RefManager 3x3 gives referees their games by email and iCal, checks them in with a QR code, shows every court on a live board, and handles no-shows, delays and substitutions in one place. Evaluations afterwards go through digital forms.

FAQ

Questions

What goes wrong most often on a 3x3 tournament day?

Courts running late and referees who do not show. Both are easier to handle when the schedule lives in one place and everyone sees changes.

Do referees need to check in?

It helps: you know who is actually there before the first game. RefManager uses QR code check-in.
